If you've been following my art, you will see I've been working on a new story. I'm finally working towards a long form story. Oscar the Otter is an adventure story about a bookish anthropomorphic otter who is given a time traveling pocket watch, and the opportunity to go on countless adventures across time and space.

He started out as me simply trying to fashion my own retro animation style character similar to Felix the Cat, Mickey Mouse, or even Oswald. Then I came up with a story, and it's been falling together nicely.

I've scripted a first teaser adventure story for Oscar. It will be a 24 page comic to help promote the story. I'm hoping to be done with it by May.

Currently, I'm preparing for Emerald City Comicon (Seattle WA May 1 -3). Time is short, but I'm plowing through with a fun western mini. It's essentially the same world as Oscar, but no time travel. Just a fun wild west shoot out.

I'm on page 5 of 8, hoping to wrap up and print next week. It will be a short run. It is a part of a Comics Projects minicomic challenge. Every few months the group puts up a theme, and everyone busts out a quick minicomic in that theme. I'll need to print 20 for the group, and then I'll probably print another 20 for the convention.

If you'd like to see all the completed pages, they are currently on my Tumblr page: [link]

Very cool, man! That western is coming together nicely.

You planning on having the longer comic ready for Spokane ComiCon?

I'm hoping, but if I don't feel it's ready, I won't rush to print it. Im goin to be very anal about all the details for once, and not let anything slide that can be fixed.

That's cool - I can definitely understand wanting to get everything right. Though your minis have all looked pretty dang good so far, so I'm betting this one'll turn out OK too. :)
