I was watching a documentary on Cuba, and decided to draw Fidel Castro. He has such a unique face, it was fun to draw. Drawn originally on cardstock with a pentel sign pen. Then cleaned it up as a vector in Illustrator, and colored in Photoshop.
I love caricatures! Looks like you borrowed the art style from the french book series Babar the Elephant. And mixed with some anime too.
Most of my recent illustration influences have been Dan DeCarlo (known for the Archie Comics house style), and Floyd Gottfredson (Made the Mickey comic strips in the '30s). Interestingly, Tezuka who is known for starting the "anime" style, based his character Astro Boy off of the art style of Fleischer Studios who created Betty Boop and Popeye cartoons. Anime and American animation are quite an amalgamation of each other.
